It is situated approximately 6 miles to the south of Stockton town centre and has an 11th Century church called St. John&#8217;s, which is a very active church. The village sits on top of a hill overlooking the River Tees and the historical market town of Yarm<\/p>\n<p>At the top of &#8216;Stoney Bank&#8217;, which leads from Egglescliffe Village towards Yarm, is a War Memorial commemorating the deaths of the brave soldiers who died in both World Wars.\u00a0The flowers at this War Memorial are maintained by Egglescliffe Area Residents&#8217; Association (EARA), who secure funds by holding locally held events and by gratefully received donations from residents and local organisations.<\/p>\n<p>The village has one pub, the <span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><em><a style=\"color: #00ccff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/potandglass\/about\">Pot and Glass<\/a><\/em>\u00a0<\/span>and, as you would expect with a village pub, it is \u00a0used regularly by residents as their local &#8216;watering hole&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Every year, in July, working alongside <em><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><a style=\"color: #00ccff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.egglescliffeandeaglescliffe-pc.org.uk\/\">Egglescliffe and Eaglescliffe Parish Council<\/a><\/span>, <\/em>members of\u00a0St John&#8217;s Church and\u00a0local residents, EARA assist in putting on a summer fete that has been extremely successful. The fete has live band music, food and a bar on the village green, as well as games for children and stalls from where attendee&#8217;s can buy a whole variety of products. Any profits from the fete go towards a charity that is nominated by the Chair of the parish council.<\/p>\n<p>The next Summer Fete will be taking place on Sunday 9th July 2023, from 1:30pm to 5:30pm.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.egglescliffeara.org.uk\/?page_id=965\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-964 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.egglescliffeara.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/EARA-Community-Award-Certificate-amended-211x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"138\" height=\"196\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.egglescliffeara.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/EARA-Community-Award-Certificate-amended-211x300.jpg 211w, https:\/\/www.egglescliffeara.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/EARA-Community-Award-Certificate-amended-768x1090.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.egglescliffeara.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/EARA-Community-Award-Certificate-amended-721x1024.jpg 721w, https:\/\/www.egglescliffeara.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/EARA-Community-Award-Certificate-amended.jpg 1626w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 138px) 100vw, 138px\" \/><\/a>EARA, as a residents association, were formed in July 2012, and have gone on to support the local community through a variety of events. In March 2014, the hard work undertaken by the committee and its members was rewarded when the Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees awarded EARA the Mayor&#8217;s Civic Award for services to the local community. EARA were pleased to have been nominated for, and to have won, this prestigious award as it recognised the voluntary work that had been going on within the community.
