Change of use of the Elementis offices/laboratory to provide an operations base for the Great North Air Ambulance, new hard standing helipad, new hanger building, fuel storage tank and insertion of a set of doors with the existing office building.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) are seeking to move their forward operating base to the Elementis site in Urlay Nook, Eaglescliffe, and hoping that members of the local community support them in this venture.
The GNAAS operates three air ambulance helicopters across the North-East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria and this worthwhile charity brings pioneering pre-hospital care to the scene, rescuing hundreds of severely injured or ill patients every year.
This planning proposal is to adapt the existing Elementis building to provide offices and management space for the operation of the service and construction of a new hangar building, apron and safe landing zone.
It is expected that this establishment will significantly reduce overall operational costs for GNAA providing a sustainable, modern and more efficient service to what has already become a valuable charity led organisation. This valuable service does not receive any government funding for its daily operations and relies entirely on donations from the public.
If the GNAA can reduce its current cost of operations by moving to this site and thereby reinvest that funding back into the organisation to provide emergency care for persons in need of their service, this can only be a good thing.
I fully support this application and hope that you do to.
